Historic Name SHATTUCK NATIONAL BANK BUILDING
Description of Significance THE SHATTUCK NATIONAL BANK BUILDING IS A TWO-STORY TWO PART COMMERCIAL BLOCK BRICK BUILDING CONSTRUCTED IN 1910. THIS FLAT-ROOFED BUILDING HAS HOUSED A FINANCIAL INSTITUTION, THE MASONIC LODGE, A POST OFFICE AND THE TOWN LIBRARY. THE BANK IS ORIENTED AROUND THE CANTED CORNER ENTRANCE. THE BUILDING HAS ELABORATE BRICKWORK WITH ROMAN ARCHES AROUND THE WINDOWS, AS WELL AS A CORBEL TABLE ALONG THE CORNICE AND AS A BELT LINE BETWEEN THE FIRST AND SECOND STORIES. THE ORIGINAL SECOND FLOOR WINDOW REMAINS, ALTHOUGH THE FIRST FLOOR WINDOWS HAVE BEEN HIGHLY ALTERED. LISTED IN NATIONAL REGISTER 10/7/1983.
